Implantati su namenski oblikovane nadoknade koje zamenjuju koren zuba koji nedostaje, i oni su osnova krunicama, mostovima ili protezama. Implantati se postavljaju hirurski u vilicu.Uglavnom se implantati ponasaju prirodnije i sigurniji nego druge metode nadoknada zuba, npr kao sto su proteze.

 

Postoji mnogo razloga zasto je vazno zameniti zube koji nedostaju:

 

•    Ako imate sve svoje zube, imacete i vise samopouzdanja.
•    Kada su zubi izgubljeni, podrucje vilice gde su se zubi nalazili pocinje da se povlaci. I vremenom mozete izgubiti toliko raspolozive kosti pogodne za ugradnju implanta, da ce vasoj vilici biti potrebna hirurska intervencija kojom se ugradjuje vestacka kost.
•    Gubitak zuba utice na kvalitet zvakanja i na odabir hrane.Mnogi ljudi kojima nedostaju zubi mogu biti neuhranjeni,sto moze uticati na sveukupno zdravstveno stanje.
•    Gubitak zuba moze da izmeni vas zagrizaj.Promene vaseg zagrizaja mogu da dovedu do problema u Vasem vilicnom zglobu(temporomandibularnom zglobu).
•    Gubitak zuba moze dovesti do promena u vasem govoru,sto takodje moze uticati na vase  samopouzdanje.


Danas je u upotrebi preko 100 vrsta razlicitih implantacionih sistema(npr.transdentalni, endosalni, subperiostalni, intramukozni…)
Danas najcesce primenjivani  su endosalni implanti.Prema konstrukciji, razlikuje se veci broj oblika, mada se najcesce koriste sraf-cilindar-implantati, cilindar-implantati i lisnati implantati napravljeni od titanijuma.Kada je implant ugradjen u kost ,na njega se postavlja suprastruktura koja zamenjuje patrljke zuba, koja sluzi kao nosac za krunicu,most ili protezu.
Kljuc uspesnosti implantata lezi u procesu oseointegracije ili biointegracije.U periodu posle hirurske ugradnje implantata, u kostanom tkivu vilice se odigrava slozen proces biointegracije, koji podrazumeva formiranje nove kosti u kontaktu sa povrsinom kosti.
Period biointegracije iznosi najcesce 4-6 meseci za gornju vilicu,a 2-3 meseca za donju vilicu.

Uspesnost implantata


Studije pokazuju da je ugradnja implantata uspesna u vise od 90% slucajeva.Ukoliko dodje do odbacivanja implanta, problem se obicno javlja u toku prve godine nakon operacije.Nakon toga,samo oko 1% svih implantata biva odbaceno svake naredne godine.  
Od presudnog znacaja za dugorocni uspeh implantacije i uspesnu funkciju implantata jeste odrzavanje besprekorne oralne higijene i redovne kontrole pacijenta posle implantacije.
 Zato je od izuzetne vaznosti  obucavanje pacijenta za odrzavanje oralne higijene, ukljucujuci i primenu specijalnih sredstava za ciscenje implantata i zubnih nadoknada na njima.
