Ukoliko ste zainteresovani da nadoknadite nedostatak jednog ili vise zuba, implanti mogu biti idealna opcija za vas.Medjutim nije svako dobar kandidat za implantate.Dobar kandidat bi trebao da ispunjava sledece uslove:
•   Dobro zdravlje
•   Zdrave desni
•   Dovoljno kosti da podrze implantate u vasoj kosti.Neki ljudi koji su izgubili kost u svojoj vilici mogu da ugrade implantate,ali prvo moraju hirurskim postupkom da nadoknade kost
•   Pacijent mora da bude posvecen odrzavanju dobre oralne higijene implantiranih zuba i okolnih desni.Dnevno pranje zuba i koriscenje konca su neophodni.Redovne posete stomatologu koji ce pratiti vase stanje su takodje veoma vazne.
Neki ljudi nisu dobri kandidati za implantate.Oni se odnose na:
•   Mlade pacijente cije se vilice nisu u potpunosti razvile
•   Trudnice
•   Okorele pusace —Pusenje sprecava zarastanje rana u ustima i moze umanjiti izglede da ugradnja implanta bude uspesna.
•   Pacijenti zraceni u predelu glave i vrata
•   Ljudi koji pate od hronicnih oboljenja ili sistemskih ukljucujuci visok krvni pritisak,dijabetes,hemofiliju, sistemska oboljenja kostiju, oboljenja vezivnog tkiva, izrazena generalizovana osteoporoza — I dalje mozete biti dobar kandidat za ugradnju implanta iako se nalazite u nekom od ovih stanja.To zavisi od trajanja i ozbiljnosti vaseg stanja.
•   Pacijente koji uzimaju izvesne lekove poput kortikosteroida
•   Na ljude koji pate od bruksizma,ove navike mogu da vrse prejak pritisak na implante i samim tim uvecaju mogucnos odbacivanja implanta.

Ugradnja implanta zahteva tim koji se sastoji od hirurga(obicno je u pitanju oralni hirurg ili parodontolog) koji postavlja implant ili implantate, proteticara.

Prvi korak u vasem tretmanu je zakazivanje pregleda kod jednog od ovih profesionalaca zbog procene vaseg stanja.
Vas stomatolog moze da oceni da li ste vi dobar kandidat za postavljanje implantata. Pre svake implantacije neophodno je da se klinickim pregledom utvde svi parametri koji odredjuju uspeh implantacije,a posebno da se iskljuce sve potencijalne kontraindikacije.Potrebno je uzeti detaljno anamnezu i, u slucaju potrebe izvrsiti potrebne laboratorijske analize.
